QuSecure and Accenture have showcased a space-based quantum-resistant post-quantum cryptography (PQC) solution, enabled by the QuProtect software. This revolutionary technology was demonstrated using both Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) and Geosynchronous Equatorial Orbit (GEO) satellites. In this demonstration, data was first sent from an earth station to a LEO satellite, and then transferred to the GEO satellite before being delivered to another ground station. No extra software or hardware was necessary for the satellites since all encryption and decryption took place on the ground. The system also included redundant features that allowed transmissions to take place over multiple orbits, in case of potential threats or malfunctions with a single satellite. This groundbreaking demonstration is proof of the limitless potential for space-based communication systems in future quantum computing applications.
