Biden Signs Quantum Computing Cybersecurity Act

Last month, President Biden signed into law the Quantum Computing Cybersecurity Preparedness Act. It reinforces an essential effort to protect US agencies from quantum computers and their immense computing power that could easily crack current security measures. The bill requires NIST (National Institutes of Standards and Technology) to set standards for post-quantum cryptography by 2024 which OMB must prioritize in preparing government systems after they are released. To fortify protection even further, there will be a report summarizing coordination efforts with international organizations charged with creating these enhanced safeguards against quantum attacks on agency IT systems.
